Corporate Wellbeing

For your business to flourish, your employees need to be healthy and happy. Taking the health and wellbeing of your people seriously will ensure your business benefits from increased productivity, better retention and reduced sickness.

The true cost of ill health is a serious issue. The annual economic costs of sickness absence and worklessness is estimated to be well over £100 billion, and according to the Health and Safety Executive, 137 million days were lost to sickness absence in the UK in 2016. Minor illnesses, such as coughs and colds, top the list for sickness absence; 22% of absences are caused by musculoskeletal conditions (including back pain, neck, and upper limb problems); and 11.5% of absences were as a result of mental health issues, including stress, depression, anxiety and serious conditions – resulting in 15.8 million days lost.

Health and wellness need to be stitched into businesses of today, led by the leadership team through example and investment. There are many ways you can incorporate simple changes into the workplace which can have a dramatic impact on the wellbeing of your staff and the health of your business. Regular exercise not only improves physical health, it’s one of the best ways to improve mental wellbeing too. And a happier, healthier, team can improve motivation and resilience, and reduce absenteeism and presenteeism.
